BASF receives registration for first wood protection nets

Limburgerhof, Germany – July 18, 2014 – The novel, patented net technology Storanet® has received registration for commercialization in Germany. BASF can now provide the first non-liquid technology to prevent pest problems in harvested timber. Since it does not need to be applied with conventional spraying systems, it can significantly reduce the risk of exposure for operators, as well as the environment, making the net a significant improvement towards more sustainable forest protection.

BASF opens its $33 million facility expansion in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA

Ludwigshafen, Germany and Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA – September 4, 2013 – BASF today inaugurated its new research facilities in Research Triangle Park (RTP), North Carolina at a grand opening ceremony. This $33 million expansion includes 80,000 square feet of office, laboratory and greenhouse facilities.

BASF reorganizes Specialty Products Department within U.S. Crop Protection division

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC, January 10, 2013 -- BASF announced it will take its distinct businesses within the U.S. non-crop markets and merge them into one. The primary businesses known as Pest Control Solutions and Professional Turf & Ornamentals (T&O), and secondary businesses including Professional Vegetation Management and Market Business Development, will now collectively be known to the marketplace as the BASF Specialty Products Department (SPD). Each respective market will continue to be served, but BASF will do so as one business unit led by Jan Buberl, Director of Specialty Products.

BASF completes acquisition of Becker Underwood

Ludwigshafen, Germany – November 28, 2012 – BASF has completed the acquisition of Becker Underwood from Norwest Equity Partners, a U.S.-based private equity investment company, for a purchase price of US$1.02 billion (€785 million). With the acquisition, BASF is now a leading global provider of technologies for biological seed treatment as well as seed treatment colorants and polymers. BASF has also expanded its product portfolio in the areas of biological crop protection, turf and horticulture, animal nutrition and landscape colorants and coatings.

BASF to strengthen global crop protection business with acquisition of Becker Underwood
